If I want to control an Agilent 1100 using MassLynx 4.1, do I need to connect the Agilent to the PC with GPIB cables, or can I use a jet direct card and go through cat 5? Also, If I need GPIB, do I need to daisy chain all the Agilent modules together with GPIB?

you connect the agilent system to the pc using a gpib cable, the agilent system is connected using the can bus, from masslynx you select which device the gpib cable is connected to and set the relevant addresses for each module from the masslynx inlet editor.

Hello people,
Any idea whether this can be done with a generic (NI) GPIB card, rather than the specific Agilent one Waters seem to insist/have tested it on?
Cheers,
Andy
