Hey all

I have a general problem regarding the use of a RP C-18 column.

When i try to analyse a standard solution of Aluminium i do not get any signal at the ICP-MS (ELAN 6000) when i use the RP column.

If i remove the column and inject the same volume and concentration of aluminium standard solution i get a clear peak.

Do anyone have an idea to why i dont get a signal for aluminium when i use the RP column. It should pass right throug the column without any retention?
I've figured out that it is probably due to complexation of Al ions with the silica material.
