packing sorbent inside column

How would one pack a preparative scale, medium pressure glass column with C18 sorbent material consistently both wet AND dry? This is an expected obstacle as I try and obtain reproducibility. I suspect simply engaging the vacuum, loading the bottom frit, sorbent, top frit and pouring on a few column lengths worth of solvent oughta suffice. Could someone maybe offer any guidance on this subject.

Please contact Dr. Martin Hofmann at m.hofmann@btinternet.com, give him my regards and ask your question. He is the expert to give you the right answer. Good luck, but with Martin you are in the best hands.
He is aware of all column hardware for preparative scale and how to pack both silica based and polymer based resins. He will tell you what to do, how to do and what you should avoid to do.
