Urgent query

I am trying to separate two molecules which differ only in that one has a hydroxyl group and the other a chloride in that position

There are many molecules with hydroxyl groups and chlorine atoms - and they take many kinds of separatoin techniques, based on the types of molecules they are.

Try a standard C18 column and a standard HILIC column first. It depends which group has more influence, charge etc.! But without more details on the compounds or what you tried so far it is not possible to give you more detailed information.

I would say that should be "standard fare" for a reveresed phase separation gradient or isocratic on a bog standard C18 column....
