ppm ASH3 / H2S lost

Is there any documentation to support the use of a technique where high concentrations of a sample component are injected into a column to occupy active sites thus preventing lost ppm/ppb levels of sulphur etc.
I am trying to analyze <0.1 ppm ASH3 in helium and the only way I can get a peak is to pre-coat the column with a 5ppm reference gas before injecting the sample.
