We are having a problem with Agilent 5975 MS,
We removed the ion source for cleaning and after cleaning we re-installed it back. When we start the MS the ion source temperature was surprisingly elevated to 511oC and didn't change over time. The set temperature was 100. The MSD fault status was Dec 2048, hex980. Do you have any idea as the cause of this fault?

I had this problem with 5973 before, I changed the heater assembly and it worked.

Thanks alot

Sounds like the thermal sensor wire was damaged or disconnected from the board. If changing the heater assembly doesn't work the problem may be with the board.
