ICS-3000 pump would not run.
When I set up prime or flow rate, the pump stops.
It shows: Drive Current too Large. Camshaft 160 degree
Excessive drive current. Camshaft 160 degree

Disconnect system from the mains and then reconnect and re-start.

If the problem persists, it is not a do-it-yourself fix. I'm not familiar with that specific pump, but it sounds like you have either a broken or frozen piston. Completely blocked check valves might give the same message if the pressure transducer is downstream from the pump head (if the transducer is in the head, you would probably get a high-pressure warning first). And, of course, there is also the possibility of an electronic failure.

If this were my system, I'd call in the service engineer.

Jady,

You have a possible blockage in the transfer line between the primary pump head and the secondary equilibration pump. As Tom has pointed out this is a service issue that cannot be rectified by the user and you should contact your local Dionex service rep.

Thanks Tom and Mark. I tried to disconnect, clean, combine last week. The problem is still there.

Hi Jady,

Was it a blockage in the transfer line between pump heads or something else??

Hi mhjiang,

There could be a blockage in the connector tube between the primary pump heads (the one with the check valves) and the secondary pump head. If a blockage occurs here pre-pressure transducer the pump sees the additional load as an over current. Other problems; if the pump was not maintained properly it could be worn bearings which will necessitate a service call.

Cheers

Mark

Hi Jady,
I am having the same problem, but I am sure that it is not a blockage (also occurs with the pump heads removed). Can you tell me how your solved your problem?
Thanks!

Hi williasj,

If the problem is occurring with the pump heads removed its definitely not a blockage, I recommend you seek assistance from a Dionex Service Rep

Regards

Mark

Late to the party but...

I had this happen recently. A rollerbearing in the drive unit was failing and reground the cam on the pump drive.

Required a pump drive replacement.

Not a user replacement part.
