I need the pinout of the used in conjunction with EZChrom. We have lost the TP420 terminal board and cables!!
A TP420 and cables would also be great. Any reasonable price happily paid.

Has anyone out there got one of these still running in a Shimadzu system?

Sorry, I am a little slow today (just today?). Are you needing the pinouts for the system controller RS-232C port to the computer? I have that information in a manual I could e-mail to you. The lines to the SS-420 board are run from the detector on our system and there is no serial port on either. Or do you need the connection information at the SS-420 board?

Hi Russ,
Thanks for the reply! Without the TP420 breakout board it is not easy to workout the pinouts on the SS420.
Just to be sure, what system do you have the SS420 on? Is it connected with 2 cables to a TP420 breakout board?
Are you sure it is not the newer SS420X which is quite different?
Anyway this is how much I have discovered so far.
The SS420 board has two connectors a DB25 and a 15 pin VGA type connector, incorrectly referred to as an RS232 connector in the SS420 literature. The DB25 connects the analog signal inputs to the TB2 terminals on the break out board. The other cable connects the digital inputs and outputs to the TB1 terminals on the break out board. I have used a multimeter to work out the analog connections on the DB25 connector and verified them as working in EZChrom:
Pin2 Ch1 (+)
Pin3 Ch1 (-)
Pin5 Ch2 (+)
Pin6 Ch2 (-)
Pin8 Ch3 (+)
Pin9 Ch3 (-)
Pin11 Ch4 (+)
Pin12 Ch4 (-)
Pin14, 16, 19, 22 and 25 appear to be grounds for attaching cable shields.
Now the 15 pin connector is a little more difficult to decipher but not impossible. I know what signals are on it. There are 4 analog channel trigger inputs and 8 event outputs. That make 12 connections plus 2 signal grounds perhaps. 14 all together plus a cable shield makes 15. It is possible that the trigger signals are on the DB25 cable but it makes sense not to run them with the analogs since the wires would not be individually shielded. I will do it the hard way, when and if I need the trigger and event connections which I don't at the moment. I just need the analog inputs for now.
If you have the pinout for the 15 pin connector that would be really good. If you don't have pinouts but have the TP420 board you can test which pins are connected with which terminal on the TP1 connectors. Either would make my job easier! Any info on the SS420 would be useful so do send it.

Sorry, we don't have anything called a TP420 board. Our connections to the SS420 go directly from the detector (SPD-10A or 10Avp) to the SS420 and there are no pin connections. The only pin connector we have is from the system controller (SCL-10A or 10Avp) to the computer.
TP420 & SS420 available

Hi WeirdStuff Inc.
We need the SS420x interface, I guess that would be the board and the box, do you think you can provide any?

I need either a TP420 terminal board, OR, the pin assignments on the ss420 interface board for the start/run inputs.
Many thanks!

Hi all,
I have 3 spare TP420 boards if you are still interested. I also have the cables available but want to keep those with the board and TP420. Reply back to
dugas121@hotmail.com if you still need the TP420 board. Price $500

Hi Al,
I have 3 SS420X boxes still available which are in good to ecellent condition. They come with the power supply, cables and screwdriver for the terminal connection screws. I understnad this is an old post but if still needed its available. Price $1300

Even older post now...
dugas1212 - do you still have any SS420x boxes available?

Hey Charles, did you ever find the start trigger pin-outs for the 15-pin connector?
I have some SS420 boards that another lab asked for my help with. They lost the cabling.
I have the signal inputs working, but I need to find which start triggers to connect to that will give me acquisition starts?

Hi pkiehne,
I saw your post and have not been on for awhile. Yes I still have some SS420X boxes availble. Please reply to
dugas121@hotmail.com if you are still interested.
Sincerely,
Dennis
