Chemstation sequence naming folders

Hello, I am wondering if I can change the default name of the folder Chemstation creates to be the name of the sample I type in the sequence table. For example, it would be great to have the folder called SB1-0921 instead of the injection of 001F0101.D. Does anybody know if this is possible to do?

There is a way to create your own "default" sequence. I use this every day. My data files have to include the instrument letter designation, date, and data file #. Here's what I've done:

1) Create a sequence that's small and easy to change, maybe only a couple lines long, with a naming convention you'd like to see every time.

2) Save it like you normally would, renaming the data folder location if necessary, but name it something like "Daily Default" or anything you want.

3) Go to Sequence - Simulate sequence (change directory path name here) then hit - Run Sequence.

4) Resave sequence just like before. Now you'll have your own "default" sequence with a more appropriate data folder location.

5) Now when you want a new daily sequence, just load your new default, change data file names if necessary, then save sequence as something other than your default name.

6) Simulate sequence being careful to rename folder before hitting Run Sequence. Then resave sequence.

There are a few steps involved but I prefer this way as opposed to using the built in default or using quick sequence generator. Let me know if this helps.

If you have an IT guy with some vba experience he/she could write a little script to do that for you.

I think the question was about naming the injection folder (is that correct?). In Sequence, Sequence Parameters, check Prefix/Counter, rather than Auto, and then you can specify the Prefix. The system will add a number to each injection, based on the starting number that you provide.

Yeah, I just want to folder that is created when the run is finished to be named the same as the name I put in the sequence table. That way when I go to report the data, I can just click the folder that matches the proper QC element or sample name as opposed to have to check what injection it was. I looked at the Prefix/Counter but it seems that it will only append the number by one each time as opposed to naming the folder as the sequence sample name. Thanks for the help, I'll continue looking at it and see if I can figure something out.

After doing some more research, it looks like the closest I can get is turning Unique Folder Creation to ON then specifying from there but I want it to be the sample name in the sequence not just the sequence name or operater name etc. I'll try placing a call to Agilent and see what I can come up with.

I have discovered the solution to this question. If you just copy and paste the sample name from the sequence table into the column called "datafile" it will create a data folder with the name of the sample in the sequence.
