Hey,
I have removed the quartz quadrupole from my 5972 and neglected to note the position of it when I removed it. Does anybody know the correct positioning of it? It has two gold clamps around three sides of it. I'm not certain if the flat part (with the gold clamp) goes up, toward the side contact points or what.... I'm an idiot!!
Thanks for any help!!

Honestly, because of what I have below, I don't know which way it's supposed to be oriented... but...
I do know that you are never supposed to take the mass filter out (that's the quartz part you were talking about).
Never sonicate it, for sure.
Always leave it in the radiator. Always.
When you take the 3 day training course (GC-MS Maint/Troubleshooting) from Agilent, they emphasize this from day one and show you what happens. If you were to damage it, you replace the entire piece of equipment. It's one of the only things that doesn't have a part number.

I think the gold clamps should positioned at up-left-down if you see quartz from the EM site, that means the contact pair will touch the gold clamp at the middle position.
