Hi every one. I am in process to buy HPLC + MS/MS. What would be the best combination in terms of price and performance. I am not talking about new equipment I am looking of for cheap and good

How about this? AB triple and 1100 wi CTC for $60K

[Do you think Finnegan LCQ classic and Agilent 1050 would work ?]How about this? AB triple and 1100 wi CTC for $60Ks

Hi Faris; I do not know so much about LC/MSMS (at least so much as I would like...) but before go and could you please tell us what could be your application?
to say "Good HPLC MS/MS" it could be relative.

Thanks.

This last point is a good one. If you were setting up to do proteomics I would suggest the Thermo LCQ. If you are doing small molecule work I would go with the ABI system. I tend to favor Agilent for the HPLC mainly because I have more experience with it.
Hi guys, ad thank you for your replays. Mainly my work is involving small molecules pest side and carcinogens in food, I don't do that much protein analysis.

Hi Faris; probably I am not the qualified person; but I think you have to have in mind that if you are analyzing pest you will need sencitivity and apart of that high duty cycle and this means (if I remember well); can the instrument do all the changes in energy of collition, cone voltage, polarity, etc in a range of time that do not afect your sencitivity and your chromatography?
Remember is not the same when we have to analyze few compound that when we have to analyze 50 or more. if some day you want to use UPLC or go faster probaly you will not be able wtih this instrument.
I found some information in the internet you can check.

Personally think that there are better equipment but you will have to see if the API 2000 is enought for you; the other side is to have a good methodologies and sample prep, the instrument is only the 50%
