Split Ratio

This may sound like a dumb question. :?:

I was wondering if there is any standard way to document split ratio? I have seen split ratio documented as 1:100 as well as 100:1. I have also noticed that depending on how it is documented, the amount going on the column and out in the air is interpreted differently.

Any guidance on this issue will be appreciated. Thank you.

Happy,

Split ratio is exactly that a ratio. The amount of sample going onto the column in relation to the amount going out of the vent is constant. If you use the inverse of either of the two methods, you should get the same answer.
