SPE Autotrace

Hi

I am not sure if this is the correct forum. I am looking at analysis of chlorinated pesticides PCBs and PAhs in a sedimetn sample. I have extracted the sample usign the Dionex ASE system. The solvent is 100% DCM. WOuld this solvent be acceptable to extract all the above components.

I also want to do a cleanup and fractionation using the Dionex Autotrace system. The samples are to be analysed by GC/MS. I was hoping to use a standard 1g/6ml silica cartridge for cleanup/fractionation.

Can anyone guide me on this process.

Thanks

we use ase200 extensively. dionex have a number of application notes regarding extraction conditions. most general sediment samples use dcm:acetone (1:1), or if specific compounds of interest eg ocp and pcb might use hexane:acetone (1:1). clean up depends on the matrix; might use florisil, silica, or gpc

I do epa 525 with an autotrace using 1g C18 spe cartriges. I use DCM and Ethyl acetate 1:1 and concentrate to 1 ml after extraction. My matrix is drinking water so cleanup is not needed.
