My laboratory was recently "gifted" a Fisons VG Platform MS and HP 1050 HPLC with a MWD. The school the gifted it to use has a policy of not sending PC's with donated equipment, and as a result we did not receive the two PCs that where supposed to come with the system. The school did send us everything associated with the system masslynx disks, chemstation disks, ect.

Our lab uses waters empower for its HPLC, and the last time i used chemstation with a HPLC system i believe it was on a win 95 machine, but it might have been 3.1. We do have a 5890II/5972 running chemstation B.01.00 on NT that we use for pesticide analysis, so I have some experience with chemstation.

My problem is that I can not seem to get the chemstation to install on the computer we are building for the new HPLC/MS system.

The computer we are assembling is a older Dell with 3 ISA slots. It has a fresh NT installation on it. We have a HP 82335B card left over from a old GC PC that died. The two chemstation Boxes I have in the are a G2170AA and G2180AA, both A.08.03. THe problem is I am at the install screen in chemstation I chose the the LC chemstation and the spectral addition, and enter the two registration numbers, it only adds the registration number for the spectral addition. THe number for the LC is accepted, but when I click install it asks again for the registration number.

The only thing I can think of is that we did not get the right box for the LC chemstation. THe PI of the lab it came out of died suddenly, and the equipment was packed up by a neighboring laboratory, so it may have been swapped, but who knows.

Can anyone give me some advice on this? We are kind of stuck and I'm not sure what is going wrong.

RSW

This is somewhat unrelated but I'm not sure that an 82335B card will work with WinNT and/or a version of Chemstation older than A.06.xx.
