GC-MS standard / reference sample

I'm looking for a molecule that can be used as reference to check retention time and ionization on GC-MS, any good suggestions?
Your vendor probably ran such a standard when your instrument was installed. It would have been a compound such as hexachlorbenzene or octafluoronaphthalene.
But, if you are setting up a specific method, a compound related to your analytes may be more appropriate.
