CAn Someone Help me About the Analysis and Separation of 2-[(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]-1-(4-methylphenyl)propan-1-ol and 2-amino-1-(4-methylphenyl)propan-1-ol.

I have done the Analysis and Separation on Column HP-5 and Also on DB-17. but on DB -17 the Peak shape is not so much good as good on HP-5. but after some analysis the peak shape is destorted and some salt like nature we got ( just says Hump )it is clearly indicate that the Column is not Suitable for those compound or may be the compound having the impurities which are not elluted on these conditions.

I also triesd it on HP-Innowax Column but we can't get proper peak. Both the compounds having the alcohol group so i think this will easily eluted on WAX column but may be due to amino group it is not eluted on wax column.
Please suggest me the Suitable Column for these molecules analysis.

Hi

Your column phases themselves may not be the issue rather the quality with regard to inertness. In my experience the Hp-5 column (especially thin phases) is not good for sensitive analytes such as octa-deca brominated DPEs or amine analysis. Just switching to a DB-5 column with lets say 0,5-1µm might be good enough, but there are special columns around for amines (base deactivated).

Restek has a type 5 column specially for amines.

Likewise there columns for WAX phases, if recalling right like DB-WAX CAM.
