Hello,

I have Totalchrom Navigator v. 6.2.0.0.0:B27. I'm trying to get it to communicate with an NCI 902 interface. I was able to get the software to see the interface and set it up in the configuration menu.

The problem is, the system won't initialize. It tries to, but then I get a message that says "port comm error." I can't find in any of the manuals the possible causes for this. Does anyone know?

Thanks!
Chris

Hi Chris,
Have you been using it in this configuration for a while - or have you just started to set this up?
I get this message reasonably often usually when an instrument has a fault. So I turn the instrument off and on. I also close TC and then re-open it. This mostly works for me.
Hope this helps.

If you go into the system configuration verify that the NCI902 has EPROM version 3.4. The early versions of these A/D boxes that Perkin Elmer released needed an EPROM update because of network / communication drop issues. I do not know if this is the cause of your issue but I found this out the hard way. I could get my systems to start up but I would randomly loose my run at some point with a port com error.
