GC-MS basics

Hello,
we are currently using HPLC-MS setup using the Thermo Orbitrap MS for detection of intracellular metabolites.
We would like to start using a GC-MS system, too, to detect non-polar metabolites. But we have no experience with GC-MS.
Basically, I would like to know a few basic things:
- Can we connect a GC system to an ion trap mass spec such as LTQ or LTQ Orbitrap (which we already have), or do we need to by a combo GC-MS system?
- Is there any publication/website where I can get a basic idea about the currently available GC systems/manufacturers, their advantages and disadvantages, and also the price?
Thank you very much!
