Hi,

we're going to buy at least two GCMS from different suppliers (probably Perkin Elmer and Agilent).
My question: is it possible to use the NIST (which is included in every suppliers' offer) for the other system as well? Background: The library will be used by just one person on one computer which handles and evaluates the chromatograms of both devices, so we don't see any reason to buy it twice...
Does the native Agilent and PE software use different NIST formats or is it all on one disc? Or is there any possibility to convert the library to make it readable for the other software?

When you purchase the library, you usually purchase a licence to use that copy on one instrument. Agilent uses one format that is specific for agilent. As I recall, Perkin Elmer uses something else.

If you purchase one of these libraries from Wiley, you may have the opportunity to install into two formats - at least for the Wiley library. Check their web site on that. You may need to call for more information.
