Hi, can ethanol be analysed by HPLC with UV detection at low wavelength

No. It is not possible. Try GC.

I doubt you could every get that to happen without massive amounts of work.

You would be better off looking to capillary GC with an FID.

You can analyze Ethanol by HPLC but using IRD.

Yeah... you need the RID. If using the Biorad aminex column then
ethanol comes out around 22 minutes at 1 mL/min.

Doubt not. It can be done pretty simply with an RI detector & I've done it, though it was a long time ago. Get an RI, check out Shodex' website, and have fun. An old Waters 410 RID will be cheap and they run forever. Patience will be required to obtain a stable baseline, but once you have one, you'll be fine.
