Hello All,
to those that use AMDIS, the latest version has just been released, YEAH !, and to those that don't, its FREE so try it out :D

http://chemdata.nist.gov/mass-spc/amdis/

It has a lot of new capabilities
http://chemdata.nist.gov/mass-spc/amdis/changes.html

unfortunately it has some installation bugs, :(
but if you follow the below you, you can fix those :D

(assuming you have Nist08 installed @ C:\Nist08
1) In the Win.ini file is still creates,
[NISTMS]
Path32=C:\NIST08\AMDIS32\
WorkDir32=C:\NIST08\AMDIS32\

It should be

[NISTMS]
Path32=C:\NIST08\MSSEARCH\
WorkDir32=C:\NIST08\MSSEARCH\

This stops the sample spectra being sent to the NIST MS search programme.

2) In the AMDIS directory, you can get the search NIST library to work by browsing to C:\NIST08\MSSEARCH and then selecting a library in the drop down,( that appears when you close the dropdown box)

this has the affect of updating the Onsite.ini file with the corrected directory string, PATHTOMAINLIB=C:\NIST08\MSSEARCH

or you can can it manually, it can be found in the AMDIS programme directory.

Aaaand I just screwed up my link between Amdis and Nist search =(
I changed the path on the win.ini file. Now when I send a spectrum for analysis to Nist it opens... but it doesn't get the spectrum and it doesn't search. I deinstalled and installed Amdis again and same thing. Now the only thing left to try is to try a deinstall of both amdis and nist but I don't have the nist install here at the office =(

I just thought I had left the "just update for the sake of updating" mentality in my teens. Some things are hard to leave behind >_>

That's strange, what version of NIST, and what directory is it installed in ?,

You need to be logged in as or with Administrator rights to alter eg which library to use when searching.

Does the NIST library search work ?( Click on Analyze, then Search NIST Library)
