Any reason to change the diffusion pump oil if it is clear looking and at an acceptable level in the pump?
Agilent 5973 MSD.
Thank you.
None that I can think of. Mine has been in the pump for over ten years and everything works fine.

We were told that diffuson pump oil condition is related to number of injections and types of injections. In other words, if yours looks good, it probably is good. Changing it out is a semi-hassle, I've only done it once or twice (5971/5972).
