HP7694 carousel adjustment

Our 7694 Headspace sampler carousel is out of adjustment. According to the manual I have, it's says to "call Agilent service"...

In the past I have adjusted the optical sensor position under the elevator area, but I did that Monday and it's back in my shop out of alignment again after only 10 to 15 vials through it. (I don't have service manuals/schematics, nothing appears to be loose, the belt is tight, does not appear to be excessively worn, but maybe it should be replaced...???) Right now I'm at the end of the adjustment for the optical sensor.

The 7694 is needed "yesterday" so am hoping someone here knows the proper alignment procedure or other suggestions.

Thanks!!

Maybe this will help? Pages 97 to 101 are adjusting steps.

"If the elevator rod and bushing do not line up exactly under the hole in the
carousel cylinder, call Agilent service.
"

That's the same manual I have,

I don't have a 7694, so I can't give specific advice, but I can try to make comparisons to the instrument I do have, the Tekmar HT3. If I am adjusting the carousel, elevator, mixer, etc. there is usually an optical sensor and a "flag" that passes through the sensor. Perhaps you can move the flag instead of the sensor itself to get some extra adjustment?

Have you tried calling Agilent? They are very helpful...I've made three calls this week for a 5975 that has a terrible mass-shift error.

Good luck.

Thanks Schmitty, I've been out of town for a bit...

I had been aligning the optical sensor (not the wheel), but I'm now at the end of adjustment. So far it has been staying aligned, but when/if it needs further adjustment, I have no where to go.

I did call Agilent 2 weeks ago, the person I talked to said they would need to find someone more knowledgeable to help, I still haven't heard from them.

I'm guessing I'll have to pull apart the carousel assembly and move the optical wheel then realign the optical sensor - this appears to be a major undertaking (I have no service manual), unless someone has a better "fix".

Thanks again, appreciate the help,
