Chemstation A with Windows XP

Hi all,

According to this compatibility chart http://www.chem.agilent.com/Library/Sup ... a10674.pdf, Chemstation A.09.03 is not compatible with Windows XP. However, I have defied the compatibility chart and am successfully running it on XP Pro SP3 with no apparent problems.

My issue concerns a second computer controlling a second 1100, which is officially on its last legs. I was going to replace it with an XP machine and load Chemstation A.09.03 onto it, simply because it worked before.

But before I do that, I was wondering if anyone else has had any experience (ranging from minor problems to epic failures?) running Chemstation A's earlier versions (earlier than A.10.0x) on XP?

Thanks!

KS

"Officially" ChemStation Rev A.09.## does not support Windows XP Pro. That does not mean that Rev A.09.## does not work, it means that it is not officially supported by HP/Agilent (as in not tested). This is nothing new and true of all revisions. Rev A.9.## will not work with XP in some situations as well. Much of it depends on the exact type of computer hardware you are running as well as the interface type (LAN/MIO or HPIB). Revision A.10.## was the first officially supported revision to support Windows XP Pro O/S and the only one we recommend due to its stability. The compatibility table is just a guide as to what has been tested. Other permutations do work, but you run them at your own risk (there are some documented loss of data problems during acquisition with some of the unsupported combinations).
