Our company just bought a used Dionex ICS-3000. I never used Dionex IC /HPLC, however I had 10 years Agilent , Waters, Shimadzu HPLC experience. I tried to follow User Manual, which takes long time to figure out how to operate. Would you please list the basic operation procedure for me? or teach me online. Thanks.

for such an expensive piece of equipment, training comes with delivery.
request a training from your local vendor

no software like this can be learned by mail correspondence.
you will need someone to explain to you how to work and also to see and learn what you do to best show you the relevant features in such a huge software.

Because it is used instrument from other company. Dionex charges us $8000, which is crazy eh?. My boss wants me to figure out how to make it work.

How would you feel if your customers didn't want to pay for your products?

$8k is a bit high, but not out of line for one-on-one training on a complex program. You have to weigh that cost against the loss of productivity while you go through the learning curve on your own.

If you will email me, I can give you the contact of someone who works at Dionex. Chromeleon is not too complicated to get the basics, although it has MANY features. I've used it for about a year, but I'm still learning too.

Basically I figured out how to connect autosampler, DC, Pump, ECD and UVD. How to inject sample. However I wouldn't disconnected ECD, put UVD on my control panel- home . and I don't know where to save data, the data file. I would not find any place there was data file route information.

you are talking of a feature of file based softwares. Chromeleon is a data based software. you do not need to specify a location.
basically the entire work process of chromeleon is around the sequence. you need to think sequences and not single files (like chemstation, ezchrom). your files and chromatograms are saved in sequences

It is best to talk to your local vendor and do get help from him.
it should not be for free, but it should not be too expensive either.
if they are not willing to help you then they are really idiots.
if you are unable to use the instrument properly you will not be happy (especially at them). you will end up with a not exploiting the full potential of the instrument or worst not use it.
and then in the end you will probably buy a new one but this this time from Methrom since the dionex rep did such a good work at not helping you. and in the end your bad press will be far more expensive then not helping you

I would leave a way to be contacted in your profile in this site. Dionex like Waters and Agilent monitor this site every few days and will probably try to help directly if they have nit yet done so

Actually, I found Chromeleon a more or less self-explaining piece of chrom. software. You are able to handle Waters' software? Than Chromeleon should be a piece of cake for you. And the help files that come with Chromeleon should contain the answers to almost any question you could have.
