Hi, i would like to know how to quantify lutein and beta carotene from crude leaf extract (After the removal of chlorophyll thru saponification)? Can I used a spectrophotometer? I bought the standards for lutein and I am going to determine the extinction coefficient. But, i am afraid that beta carotene region will interfere with lutein absorption spectra. For lutein, the wavelength is 474nm right? I am only interested in quantifying lutein only. :D

It’s funny you wrote to a chromatography board. And the answer is: You’ll need to do some separation.
