/img I have these two compounds and unfortunately don't have separation.

2,3-dichloro-N,N-dimethylpropan-1-amine
3-(dimethylamino)propane-1,2-diol

I have used DB-1 , DB-wax and RTX-200 , DB-1701, DB-5ms.

On DB wax there is separation but the peak shape of chloro compound is not good.
On the other columns there is no separation.
Which type of column is suitable? I am using FID detector .

Best regards

Since you are getting separation on the polar wax column perhaps you should use a Wax column that has been deactivated for amines. Several vendors carry these modified Wax columns.

These are available and do require care in their use to retain the deactivation but one may suffice for your needs.

Can you use reagents to derivatize?
