Could anybody tell me how to seperate these polyamines: putrescine, spermidine and spermine? I also need to determine their concentrations. Thank you!
BTW, I have read some papers about the sepration of these compounds, but I still want to hear advice from someone who has related experience.

Hi -
The answer to your question --
This may sound like an exaggeration, but there are an infinite number of ways to separate and quantify your three samps.
On the other hand 95% of all methods may not be applicable based on your needs. You’ve come to the right place to get help, but you need to help us help you. The amount information provided so far is the equivalent of walking into a giant car dealership and asking for a red one.
Minimal information needed to service a question) –
1. What’s the goal?
2. Analysis type / instrument limitations
The vast (vast) majority of people in chromo-science do not have the luxury of being able to use ‘any’ type of analysis—from lack of access, unfamiliar territory. Or, like myself, have a soap-opera love affair with a particular instrument-- -

chromic,
As mentioned above, there are a lot of ways to analyze these analytes and the right answer is dependent upon many factors including sensitivity required, available detectors, available columns and sample matrix. One documented method using cation exchange is available from the following link: (
