By accident, I observed an error in the peak %area calculation in Chemstation. I noticed a change in the main peak's % area, when all I did was to split the peak of an impurity. This action should not have led to a recalculation of the main peak's %area because the total area counts is maintained. Has anybody else seen this? This is Chemstation B.03.01 SR1.

P.S. Thanks Tom J. for the procedures on 'How to embed chromatograms and reports' (sticky note).

Your impurity peak in the first chromatogram shows an area of 138.33. However, in the second chromatogram the sum of the two peaks resulting from the split is 137.67. This changes the total area which in turn changes the area percent.
thanks for the reply...I guess my ultimate question is why the peak area counts would decrease if the only reprocessing I made was to split the peak. Perhaps I should read up on the integration process. Thanks again for acknowledging my 'duh' question.
