Cyclam and HPLC column

I have an HPLC method. One of the method requirements is treatment of the column using Cyclam.
I do this, but I don’t now the aim. Any one can help?

Cyclam is a macromolecule ligand that forms a complex with metal ions at high pH (7< ).
If you use this compound at lower pH. you probably don't have any benefit.
