Hello! I am new to my job and I have been tasked with getting PCB analysis back up and running. The last analyst retired several years ago so I have nobody to train me. In addition to that, he ordered a new instrument shortly before he left and never updated the SOP. I have run PCBs at my last job as a backup analyst but on a different instrument. Even this software is unfamiliar to me. Needless to say, I am in a pickle.

The issue I am having is this: I saw some contamination in my blanks, so I changed the septa. Now the carrier flow rate through the injector port is almost nothing. Changing the septa is about the simplest thing you can do so I don't know how I messed it up. I checked the liner, made sure the gas cylinders weren't empty, checked for leaks, changed the septa again, verified I was using the correct part number. Everything seems fine.

Is there some kind of trick to changing the septa specific to this instrument that somebody here knows?? ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!

Possible there was a PPC shutdown from the pressure drop - maybe try turning gas flow off for a few seconds and then back on from the keypad
