is octanesulfonic acid ammonium salt compatible for MS?

My experience is that ion pair reagents with more than trivial lengths of hydrophobic chain can be very difficult to remove from MS systems (i.e. expect a background signal of an acidic ion pair reagent to remain visible in negative mode for some time). Use any ion pair reagent with caution.

I'd recommend looking at different stationary phases.
Below are antidepressants separated on Scherzo SM-C18 (C18 + anion ligand + cation ligand):

Retention for bases (ionic interaction) increases as eluent pH increases.
