Does anyone know how to detach the power button from the AC power board for a 6890 GC? Looks like there might be some trick to it or maybe a special tool required.

Pull :). I can't remember if it hooks in from the left or right, you might have to give it a slight push, but it just comes off.

Thanks! Turns out I didn't need to remove it after all. But I'll remember that for next time.

Yeah those things are really annoying, the whole push bar idea is incredibly stupid on a GC. It takes 2 people to get that sucker out if you have to replace it.

On one of our 6890s the top of the "finger" on the board that the push bar attached to broke somehow, so the push bar would slip off. The solution was to just unplug if needed to turn off, then while the unit was open to replace the hot air vent actuator, we drilled a small hole in the finger, and used a bread tie to hold the end down so it couldn't slip off. Priceless !!!

Power button is one of the worst things about 6890. The GC is good all right, but some friends of my (and our lab also) complained about the button. After one or two years in use, it starts to get stuck or failed completely. Hope 7890 will avoid that.

Ha! Interesting stuff. I'll keep some paper clips handy.
