I just wonder which intra molecular interaction category will pi-pi interaction be in. I think it is combination of dispersive interaction and dipole dipole interaction between aromatic compounds. So essentially, it is not just a static electronic interaction? any idea?

pi-pi interactions occupy that 'gray area' of dipole:dipole forces of attraction where H-bonding fails to accurately (and adequately) explain the force of attraction and dispersive fails to account for transient intermolecular bonding.
