Hi, I am working with Agilent 6890N GC with an auto sampler. Now, I only have 5 microliters sample, so , I can not inject it by auto sampler. Is anyone could help me how to change GC into a mannual injection style, and how to operate in that style?

thank you in advance!!

remove the autosampler from the GC.

change the method within the injection section to manual injection.

Inject sample using a suitable syringe, ie 1-5µL . Hit run button to start method.

Good luck.

Why not simply use the 5 uL syringe in the autosampler? You will have to tell the autosampler to inject 2 uL to actually inject 1 uL, but everything should work fine.

Nor simpler is to configure the syringe size to 5 uL,and tell the AS to inject 1uL,to inject 1ul
and you don't need to "tell the autosampler to inject 2 uL to actually inject 1 uL"

 Or 0.5 uL in your case but not less with a 5uL syringe.

I think the original poster wants to use a manual syringe because the sample amount he has is so small, not because he wants to inject a small amount. Apparently, he doesn't want to use a small-volume vial or insert. Responder above is correct, one can use a 5ul or 1ul syringe and change the Chemstation configuration parameters to match the syringe size (we do this all the time), then the injection amount selections do change. For manual injections, remove the tower, and set the Chemstation option to Manual (you'll need to press the GC start button manually, a window on the monitor will state this), we do this all the time as well.
