Isomeric separation

Hi there,

I am just reading about the separation of complex isomeric mixtures. I came across with liquid crystals as stationary phases for this purpose. The papers are quite old like in 1980s. I'm just wondering whether modern columns like RTX-1 having polysiloxane stationary phase are liquid crystals.


Further, Can some body guide me how can I separate a very complex mixture of isomeric congers?

Restek does have a liquid crystal phase available, but the standard columns such as an RTX-1 are not liquid crystals.

There isn't enough information to give you any ideas on how to separate your isomeric mixture, we need some details before we can help.

If you are truing to separate complex mixtures of congeners like PCB's, look at techniques like GCxGC. You are able to obtain more resolfing power than is avaialble with one-dimensional chromatography.
