Hello all-
What is the difference between the 5890 Series II and the Series II Plus?
Thanks,
John

Not sure, but did the Series II Plus come standard with EPC where it was an option on earlier?

Not sure.
I've taken on the project of testing out a used 5890 Series II Plus - for some reason I feel like I might be in over my head on this:
Holds pressure fine
Oven and injector temps are fine
but
Fault: DetA Temp Rdg
also a fault on the 7673 control box
I'm attaching this to all the connections from a 5890 Series II.
What a headache.

I believe the motherboard was different on the Series II and Series II Plus. I also think there were A and E versions of this system, the A with manual flow control and the E with the EPC. I suspect the 7673 controller error is because the wrong ROM is in the controller for the motherboard you have.

Thanks for the info, Ron.
Do you think it would work if I popped in a board from a Series II?

Chemwipe,
The detector problem you describe sounds like you need a new RTD (temperature sensor) for that detector. Available from Agilent and from Restek. Not a motherboard problem in my opinion.
Regarding the AS controller, how does it power up if it is not connected to the GC or the computer? Also, is the light all red or blinking?
Best regards

AICMM-
Believe it or not, it seems as though the wire from the detector to the board was not seated properly.
And then there was the communication issue. There was a 2-hour long call with technical support with changing settings on the board, in the keypad, and the HPIB settings in ChemStation...
Seems to work now, except for my sample tray, which is having some axis movement issues.
