Empower Toolkit

Hello!

I hope someone can help me with a problem I am having trying to install Toolkit professional on Empower 2 FR5 SPF.

I am constantly getting the error "The current version of Empower is not a valid installation. Please run the verify files under the Empower Startup Group."

This is happening when installing on Personal and C/S setups. No anomalies are encountered in the CRC checks of the installations. The application is operating fine otherwise and all pertinent S/N's are entered.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Check the release notes w/ the tool kit. You may require another SP or something prior to installing the tool kit. If nothing obvious is located there, check w/ your Waters data rep.

It appars to me that the CRC check is looking in the incorrect place when ascertaining if the Empower install is valid.

Does anyone have install notes for Toolkit Professional as these seem to be missing from the install disk? I may be missing something from this.

As I can find nothing about any E2 ToolKit anywhere on the Waters web site, I think you're either going to have to check w/ your data rep or get a lot more specific about names, part numbers or some other identifying item... Waters usually makes it pretty easy to download manuals and release notes for all of their patches and upgrades - once you put the correct keywords in at the Waters Empower 2 site (pick a tab)

Empower 1 came with the toolkit available for everyone, with the manuals on the disk.
For Empower 2 things have changed, and you're not allowed to use the toolkit without the right licenses.
You can buy these from Waters, and they will provide you with the manuals.

To clarify the toolkit situation, Empower Toolkit is included as part of base Empower 2 and does not need installing. Your verify files are likely to be working correctly.

You do not need any more licenses to run your toolkit apps.

But you do need to have a toolkit developer license (paper license and documentation) if you are going to develop applications.

However, you may need to recompile your apps.

Are you also talking about the LIMS interface? as the installer will check the registry key that was updated with the FR5 install, you may be able to work around this by installing on a LAC/E! It appears that a different registry key is updated here with FR5.

Let me know if you need any more clarification.

If you have FR5 on a LAC/E but not on the server, I think other problems will surface... (C/S installation assumed here)

Hi Dr,
It appears you may have miss-interpreted my suggestion...

You have to install FR5 on both the server and the Lace (as with all sp's - but especially so with FR5 as there is a database change).

LIMS interface may not install on the Empower server following an upgrade to FR5 as it checks the registry...

However, the registry key that is checked by the LIMs interface installer appears to be uneffected on a LACE following the FR5 install!!?? So the LIMS interface should install on a LACE following FR5 upgrade ... There is nothing like a software "feature", eh?
