Hi,

I have had a problem with the cal gas, the system was running ok for awhile then I noticed the baseline is bit noisier than normal, so I went to do the autotune and adjusting cal gas. However, the it seems to have problem with maintaining the cal gas pressure as the pressure kept decreasing, which caused the mass calibration to fail. Has anyone had any idea what the problems might be?

Thanks,

JT

cal Gas / HMN/Background noise

cal Gas problem co-existed with HMN/Background (HMN - High Mass Noise) problem (segment 2 of Dailycheck.mth - you have noise tail going upwards in the area of 450 - 650 m/z).

After advising our service and hardware manual and video tutorial, we decided to disassemble and clean ion trap - corectly its electrodes and quartz rings... which we did and after that baked it out for 14 h at following temp.
trap - 220°C
manifold - 120°C
Xferline - 290°C

-you can do it on temp which you require for your tests...

After that all dailycheck.mth segments were OK and all auto tune adjustments were OK including Air/Water level, FC-45 Mass Calibration, RF tuning and Cal Gas tuning (although we needed to do some small adjustments by turning the Cal Gas valve in front of the MS behind front panel of MS to get it to OK level Ion time around 700 and ion count arround 5000-6000)

hope it helps.

Thanks.

I've cleaned the trap and it is working ok now.
