desolvation temperature problem

hi guys,


I have one wired problem from Waters Q-Tof. Desolvation temperature do not agree
with set temperature. When I set for 250C, it will keep at 478C. And if I
unplug probe and replug again,Desolvation temperature went all the way up
to 600C
before I turn the gas on.

I do not know which part of instrument has problem. could you help?

Assuming you have a fishbowl type ion source...

Maybe it's a bad contact on the APCI or ESI probe.

If you are lucky you can solve by checking if the pins of the probe make correct contact. Or if moving the cable that connects the probe to the body of the instrument makes any difference.

Do you have the same error when switching from APCI to ESI (or viceversa)?

Does this wrong temperature reading go up and down? Or is it relatively constant if you don't touch the instrument?

Normally, you have to untighten two screws to remove the probe you are using. Do you see any effect on the temperature reading?

Beside the temperature do you have the correct voltages either in the corona uA reading (for APCI) or capillary V for ESI?

I do have the same error when I go from APCI to ESI probe.
temperature stay constant, just do not listen to the temperature I set.
I guess something wrong with electronic stuff wrong.
