Agilent Poroshell 300SB C3 or C8 for protein MW's <= 40 k

I am currently using Vydac 5 µm C4 columns for protein analytics, i.e. separation of folded and misfolded(disulfide isomers)/modified species. I would like to increase throughput by using porous/porous shell columns. I tested so far a ProSwift monolithic column and Poros R1. Both show a much worse separation power compared to the Vydac column even if I don't make use of the higher flow rates possible with the porous materials. And both seem to be less hydrophobic than the Vydac C4: Vydac>~PorosR1>>ProSwift. Higher temperatures don't change the situation.
Now I would like to test an Agilent Poroshell column. My first thought was to test the C8. But maybe C3 would be the better choice. Proteins of interest elute usually between 25 and 35 % ACN from the Vydac C4 at 40 °C (H2O/ACN 0.05/0.043 % TFA). Thanks for you advice. (Note: I won't get columns for testing from Agilent. I have to buy them. But I cannot buy both, the C3 and the C8.)

Rather than switching from one 5um particle column to another 5um particle column,
you can try decreasing particle size down to 3um.
That way, you can decrease column length (and run time).

I already ordered a 100x1 mm 3 µm 214TP column.
But if I could find a column which not only allows more rapid
separation but also better resolution I would be very pleased.
From what I have read in different discussions in this forum
I was thinking that the fused core resins would be more than
just an alternative to my Vydac column. (Actually I thought the effective
size of fused core particles is less than 5 µm. So it would
be not just switching from one 5 µm particle column to another one.)
But unfortunately only few manufacturers offer fused core C4 columns.
I never heared of Imtakt columns before. Do you happen to know which
dealer is distributing Imtakt columns in Switzerland?
And is the 3 µm material also available in 100x1 mm
columns? I will get

Yes you can order the column and yes it's available in 100x1mm dimension. The manufacturer can be contacted at info@imtakt.com.
Keep in mind the pore size when looking at the 2.7um micropellicular particles.

If you go to our website, you'll read about our newest column: Presto FF-C18 (2um non porous ODS).
It's faster than porous material.
