HP 5972 autotune without printer

Can chemstation for the 5972 print autotune to the screen and if so how do I do this?

I have a HP 5972 set up without a printer (printer to be added soon). In the meantime I am running some prelim injections to confrim the instrument set up and operation. When I run an autotune the end of the tune shows an error "tune stopped error printing" or something like that. I am familiar with the problem, the fact that chemstation autoprints the report and without a printer it recieves an error. The tune file appears to save the adjusted values from the tune just fine, but when I go to run the method the EMV remains at 1400, regardless of whether the atune.u file should have 1500, 1600 etc. I am currently assuming this is due to the printer error.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In these sorts of cases I install a free .pdf printer program and set that as the default printer (I use Bullzip).

Check run method and make sure you are not running the MS at 1400V Abs (absolute).

Thank you for your responses.

JI2002,
I checked and the method EMV is set in Abs. The options for EMV appear to be Abs and Rel (absolute and relative i think). The Rel setting is not what I am familiar with and I am certain that I have always run with the EMV in Abs and have never observed this before. This is a new (to us)system so I am still working the bugs out. It appears that in either Abs or Rel the EMV does not change in the method after an autotune is run. I will try installing the .pdf printer program as carl.nott suggested.
I would like to think there is a simple setting in the method which has been changed by the previous owner of the system, but I can't seem to find what. If you have any ideas I would be very greatful to hear them.

Thanks again!

If you use Abs, let say at 1400 V, then MS will run at 1400V no matter what the EM voltage is in the tune file of your run method. If you change it to Rel (relative), say 100V, then MS will run at EMV of 100 V plus EMV in the tune file. For example, EMV is 1200 V in autotune, Rel is -94V, then MS will run at 1106V. Remember to load your most current tune file to your run method every time you change the tune.

Thanks JI2002! That totally makes sense now. :D
