When I am analysising the samples using GC using Capillary Columns which Peak should come first i.e Formic or Acetic acid i.e Based on Molecular weight or not. But the Stanadard supplier has given the chromotogram as first Acetic acid Follwed by Formic acid. Wheras I am under the impression that it should be in reverse order. Please clarify

No clue offhand. I would see what type of capillary column you're using and check reference chromatograms for that column (I would imagine they have them on their websites since they have them in the catalogs). I'm assuming your standard has both analytes in it premixed so you can't just run one or the other individually?

On a free fatty acid phase column, FFAP for short, the elution is acetic first followed by formic acid. the acids then follow in carbon number order.
Isn't chemistry marvelous?
