Higher sensitivity? Sciex API 3000 or API 3200 with QTrap?

I am considering a new system.

I would like your opinion as to which system gives higher sensitivity, the sciex API 3000 or the 3200 Qtrap, which is a hybrid.

Any user input appreciated.

Realize the 3000 is a relative old machine from the yaer 2000. The 3200 is a newer design and has better source which is orthogonal.
As well the 3200 QTRAP is linear iontrap and an QqQ whereas the 3000 is an QqQ. I know nothing about difference in sensitivity about the 3200 but the 3000 is about 5 times less sensitive than the 4000.

I have since been told by a sales person that the 3200 is LESS sensitive than the 3000.
Having used both the 3000 and 4000 I am aware that the 4000 is much more sensative than the 3000. I would love to have a 4000 or better, but the cost....

Hi Alp, may I know why did the sales told you that the 3200 is less sensitive than the 3000? Based on any real demo data?

The 3200 came with the Turbo V if you have used the 4000 before; hence the sensitivity will be way better than the 3000; I've already done comparisons between the systems using clopidogrel and fentanyl; a few years ago ^^
From the data that I have, the sensitivity is app 10X better than the 3000 ^^ hope this helps ~

I have no experience with quantitative LCMSMS. Could you tell me how LOQ I can expect for a protein MW ~6000 Da for QTrap 4000?

It's been a while I know...
Sorry Ken I do not recall who told me or where I may have seen tor got the idea an API 3200 was less sensitive. Perhaps it was when using it in quadrupole only mode, if that is possible. Or maybe it was when using it as a qtrap. In any case, it is moot. We went with another system (not Qtrap).
