Hi all,
I want to calculate the signal-to-noise ratio of a chromatographic peak using Empower software. Is it possible to do it in this software?

Yes, it is. I'm about 99% certain that this has been covered (so please search as I can't remember ho-to off the top of my heat at the moment).

I did search the help for wordings like signal-to-noise, signal, s/n but with no avail. Apparently it didn't cover under the system suitability either.

Hi vofelyp
Since your link is an advanced technical note which I couldn't get access to it, wondering if you could download and email to me. My email a/c is
chhubert@hotmail.com. Many thanks.

Yes it is. If you have the Suitability module it is right in the center of the Suitability tab in the processing method. Be carefully about using the Baseline Noise value though (doesn't work well), and also carful using Detector Noise (RMS noise). The Noise range settings are in the Noise and drift tab for the processing method. Note the Suitability tab even has the option to calculate EP, oh wait now I mean USP noise.
Of course if you don't have Suitability you can make a custom calc to divide peak height by noise (or is that 2x the peak height). Also beware of the scaling factor difference between height and noise, but that value is also available for a custom calc.
I have seen signal to noise not available in Empower 1

It works well in Empower 2

could anyone show the detailed procedure on doing this with the software. I'm just confused because the limit being set for the sensitivity solution i had should be NLT 10 but i'm getting only 0.8.

can you send me your detailed explanation on this part? thanks. here is my email ad.

Hello,
You can also create a custom Field using this formula :
[Height]*Scale to µV/(Peak to Peak Noise)
