HPLC Calibration

while doing the calibration of Wavelength Accuracy for HPLC we use Caffiene
But what is the reason?

It's convenient.
It's cheap.
It's soluble in reversed-phase mobile phases.
It has well defined absorption bands at 205 & 273 nm

There are other choices (e.g., anthracene, with an absorbance maximum at 251 nm).
