hi any one suggest which Make of GCMS is good for pharmaceutical application and also user friendly.

Most users of GC/MS equipment seem to prefer the type of instrumentation that they have been using for the past several years. And, everyone complains about various features in their system.

After working for years with an instrument manufactured by a market leader. I wound up working for several years with a different manufaturer's instrument system for a while. When I went back to help someone on the first type of instrument system, I could not figure out how to build a calibration curve. This instrumentation is considered to be user firendly - and if you use it every day, it is. So is the instrumentation sold by the second vendor - and the instrumenation built by another vendor that I am currently learning to use.

If you are looking for a GC/MS system. Look at what you need to do with it and be sure that you are looking at an instrument that can do the job. Talk to vendors and get references close by. Find out what the experience of these refrences is with service and support. If you are new to the use of GC/MS, find out what kind of training is available as well.

Nothing is easy. You will have to learn the software and get accustom to developing methods with what ever instrument and software comes with your instrument. I have used Varian and Agilent. Even though I like the Varian software better than the Agilent each had its quirks. The learning curve was steep for both but whatever you do don't start using Excel for lyour calculations. Learn the software because if you are in a regulated environment (electronic records) you need validated software.

I would be more more concerned with the realibility and availability of service. Just a hint...I preferred my Agilent system. It was a work horse. Never broke down, ran thousands of samples and after learning the software rather easy to set up for quantitative analysis. Timothy

Hi, In my opinion, there is no suitable user friendly GC-MS on the market for pharmaceutical (GxP) applications.
