Clarus 590 FID

The spring-loaded pin that extends from the collector assembly broke off. Perkin Elmer says I need a whole new assembly but I wonder if anyone else has figured out a way to repair one of these.

Secondarily... I took the thing apart and a little spring popped loose (not the one pushing on the pin I mentioned). I'm not sure where it came from. Any ideas?

I've never repaired one. I believe the Autosystem/500 collector is the same and we have several of those lying around.

No way to fix that broken pin that I know about. BTW, the spare part (N6550077) is specific for Clarus x90, and not compatible with the x00/x80 series.

There are two more spring-loaded pins inside the collector assy: One makes the connection between the polarizer side arm and your broken pin; the other connects the signal output (BNC connector) to the central (hollow) electrode.

keep trying to respond but getting blocked as spam. I did confirm they changed the collector and unfortunately the old FID doesn't fit the newer lower jet assembly.
