8890 connection issues

The instrument is online. I can get to the web interface via ip address. The web interface shows ready. The Agilent software is still showing offline. Any ideas on why the software is still showing offline?

I have already tried rebooting both GC and PC. Everything looks good on the instrument as it shows on the LCD panel - settings and configuration.

Nothing got changed recently by IT so I'm not sure why is it still showing offline.

Since you can connect via web interface but not with the software, this seems like the instrument's configuration in the software has changed. Check it's still configured correctly. Our 'instruments' files on our various Agilent GCs occasionally get corrupted, requiring us to create new ones. What software are you using?

It's MY fault. My last boss blamed EVERYTHING to do with software, internal network, interfacing issues on me. I know pretty much nothing about computers, still type with 2 fingers (the other 8 never learned), but boss must've firmly believed that I pressed the keyboard buttons differently than the other department employees......

The size of an IT department is generally inversely proportional to the veracity of claims like "we did not change anything", especially if there was no time between the initial call and that statement having been made.
To verify such claims, an IT person needs to go and look at the logs for the PC in question and any antimalware programs residing on your LAN.
I have had multiple instances of exception list folders having been blown away (by someone in IT) resulting in ~40% failure rates of chromatographic runs. It took weeks to get someone to go and look at the logs and figure out that a change had been made.
Also, it pays to carefully document your instrument settings once things are working!

Thanks a lot for your replies and sorry for the late. Even now, we do not really know what exactly happened so we went ahead and connected the instrument from scratch by removing all the old details. It has been acting right, since then.

Thank you all again.
