ECD reconditioning services in the US?

Hi all,

Hoping for some recommendations for ECD reconditioning services in the US.

We follow Dean Rood's instructions for in-house ECD cleaning and keep our gasses pure, but we run some horrific environmental samples. Sometimes these detectors need more than what we can do for them.

I know of one place in NC - wondering if there are any other options. I'm sure there aren't many out there.

Thanks!

You really want to ship radioactive materials for a tune up? Have you pulled the columns detector side and baked the crap out of it yet? My worst one is at 580 Hz and it works fine down to 0.04 ppb.

Yes, we have. And yes, we do ship these, all with proper licenses. Agilent themselves offered this service once. We have 6890 ECD detectors still kept in daily production that are 20 years old.

This lab is also running some of the worst of the worst environmental samples, often subcontracted several labs deep from other labs that didn't want to deal with it. Hydrogen bakeouts and steam injections only take us so far when we're injecting stuff dug up from mystery barrels of concentrated cold war laboratory waste.
